Yves Portenier began his artistic work at the age of 15. Although mainly self-taught, he attended Ferrucio Garopesani's studio in Fribourg during this period and tried out various pictorial techniques.
The events of life will bring him back to this first vocation in 2006 where he gradually resumes drawing and brushes. Always in a self-taught and intuitive approach, he surrounds himself with the professorial presence of artists such as Mireille Mercanton or recently Gilbert Wolfisberg to deepen his work and his artistic research.
Since around 2010, his work has focused on a search for dialogue through composition and colors, exploring the principles of structures based, mainly, on the golden ratio.
The corporeal, carnal and human element is particularly close to his heart. There is in this approach, a certain confrontation with himself, with the imprint of time and with what nourishes, or not, relationships with oneself and with others.
Recently, he has also explored sculpture, direct on stone. Physical work, a dance with the material, which must be tamed at all costs, like an individual, with each block tackled. This stone, so hard at times and so fragile too. Quite a paradox!
